Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years, you’ve probably heard of RankTools. It’s one of the most popular SEO tools for beginners, and it’s a great way to get started on your SEO journey.
The best SEO software is not a good SEO tool. It’s a great SEO tool. It’s a tool that helps you do what you need to do for your keywords to be ranked in the search engines.
And RankTools is that tool!
RankTools is a free SEO tool that allows you to check the ranking of your page in Google, Bing, and Yahoo. It also monitors your top competitors by analyzing metrics such as Alexa data, social media data, search engine index, Google page rank, and IP analysis, to name a few.
In this review, I will explain what RankTools does, how much it costs, and my overall rating for this platform.
What’s RankTools About?
RankTools is an SEO tool that uses several different features to help you improve your search engine rankings.
These features include a content analysis tool that can help you determine what content is most important to your audience and a keyword research tool to help you find and analyze your competitors’ keywords.
We’re not sure how effective this tool is for identifying keywords that you can’t use in your content, but we do know it’s one of the best SEO tools for beginners.
You can use RankTools to make changes to your content, apply it to a new site, and even run your own search engine. All of these features are available for free.
Why is SEO so important?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of making your website as visible as possible in search engines.
If search engines are not finding your website, people who are looking for your product or service will go to the first page of search results instead of the second or third page.
It’s important to have a high SEO rank to attract traffic to your website and increase your brand exposure.
What Does RankTools Offer?
- Link analysis
- Page Status Check
- Auto Keyword Suggestion
- Over 20 different tools to increase rankings
- Google Adword Scraper
- Plagiarism check
- Over 20 checks on key metrics
- Backlink creation

And much more!
How Is It Used?
Once you log in, you’ll be on the page in the above screenshot. This page shows you statistics like page views, bounce rate, unique visitors, top 5 visitor countries, visitor comparisons over the last 7 days, and the new vs. returning users over the last 30 days.
You can click one of the links to go to a different page on the left screen, like the “Analysis tools” page for example:
On this page, you get all sorts of tools such as visitor analytics, website analysis, link analysis, and domain analysis, to name a few.
Let’s say you click on “Visitor analysis”. When you get on that page, you can search for a domain name. Once you’ve done that, you can see the domain name, code, and action appear in a table.
The layout is pretty simple, which is ideal if you’re a total newbie when it comes to SEO. The actions are easy to implement because of the simple design of the dashboard.
Who Is RankTools Aimed At?
Although RankTools is for anyone who would find this tool useful, the following occupations would benefit the most from RankTools:
- SEO professionals
- Small business owners
- Remote teams
- Digital marketing agencies
- Social media marketers
You don’t have to be an SEO whizz to use RankTools – but an interest in SEO and ranking first on the first page of Google definitely helps!
Pricing And Payment
RankTools offers a free trial of the software. I took the free trial and found that it gave me a basic understanding of how to use the tool. However, I also found that I was unable to use the tool to its full potential.
Here’s what the free trial offers:
- 1 Site Analysis
- 5 Domain Analysis
- 5 Security Tools
- 5 URL Shorteners
- 5 Google Adwords Scraper
- 5 Code Minifier
Here’s what the lifetime subscription offers:
- Unlimited Domain Analysis
- Unlimited Code Minifier
- Unlimited Google tools and utilities
- Unlimited Social Media Network Analysis Tools
- Unlimited IP Analysis
- Unlimited Keyword Analysis
- Unlimited Detailed Website Analysis e.g. Moz, Whois, Alexa
So to get more out of the platform, I would suggest buying a lifetime subscription starting at $29.99.
Pros And Cons
- Simple layout
- Affordable lifetime subscription
- Does an in-depth analysis of your competitors’ websites
- Available as an app
- Offers keyword and domain analysis
- The main page is a bit bare – no descriptions of what the product does
- Reports don’t have as much information as expected
- Customer support is a bit lacking – no live chat support, just a contact page with an email
- Spelling mistakes on the dashboard
- No information on lifetime subscription on the website
For many companies, Google remains the key to a business’s success. The more favorable your page’s ranking by Google, the more traffic you will receive from it.
If your company doesn’t have a website, SEO can be a great marketing tool for you to get your products and services out there to the world. To know how Google ranks your website, you can use RankTools.
I’ve been using RankTools for a while now and I’m quite impressed. They offer a lot of tools for free, but it’s worth paying for the paid plan if you can afford it.
Even though there are a few things the platform could do better (I’ve already gone over this in the Cons section), RankTools is a good platform for measuring SEO.
The overall verdict is: RankTools scores 83%
